Hey ladies!
If you’re out here trying to build a brand, attract your ideal clients, or just figure out how to stand out in the crowd, this video is for you!
Today I want to talk about something else that can make or break your brand – and that’s clear brand messaging.
In a previous video I already discussed how to choose your target customer, but now I’m going to help you speak to them throughout your content after you’ve chosen who you want them to be.
It’s not just what you say; it’s how you say it and why you say it. Brand messaging is basically the way you communicate your brand’s value to your audience. It’s your voice, your story, your vibe. Think of it as how you introduce yourself and your business to the world. And just like first impressions, it matters big time.
When people land on your page, website, or listen to you talk, they should instantly get a feel for who you are, what you stand for, and why they should care. It’s like, if someone asks, “Hey, what do you do?” you should be able to answer in a way that feels so you – authentic, memorable, and clear.
As you know, people are bombarded with content every day. We’re talking hundreds, if not thousands, of messages that come at them on social media, ads, emails, you name it. If your message isn’t clear and stands out, it’s just going to be white noise in the background.
Clear messaging means you’re not wasting your audience’s time trying to figure you out. They get it right off the bat. They should know what it is that you offer in the first 5 seconds of coming across their screen.
Without clear messaging, people will either get confused, feel like you’re just another page, or worse, they won’t get why they need you specifically.
Lets use Instagram for an example.
When someone clicks on your Instagram profile, whats the first thing they see? Your bio. Don’t underestimate that small area. Because in fact, it is prime real estate. And you have to make every word count.
This is where your “I help” statement comes in. Think of it like a billboard for your brand. People should look at it and immediately know, “Oh, okay, this person helps people like me!”
Your “I help” statement should be this simple formula: I help X do Y by Z.
X is your who. Y is your what. Z is your how (but that’s optional).
The most important is the X and the Y.
Going back to what we know about focusing on your target customer, this “I help” statement focuses on that person – not a wide range of people.
So for example, if you’re a fitness trainer and your business goal is to help women lose weight, you can say something like this…
“I help new moms lose their baby weight at home in 90 days” or “I help busy working women get fit with my 20 minute daily method.”
It’s super specific – who you help, and what you help them achieve. If you don’t spell it out, people are going to guess, and we don’t want guessing – we want clarity. This statement is like your first date with your audience; don’t be vague. If they have to think too hard about what you do, they’re already gone.
Now, let’s talk about using this brand messaging in other places in your content. And that includes these…
1. Social Media Posts – Your captions, your tone, even the types of images you choose – they all should speak to your ideal client. Make sure you’re not just posting for the sake of it but with your message in mind.
2. Stories and Videos – When you’re talking on stories, be consistent with your message. Reinforce who you are, what you do, and how you can help. Show up in a way that feels like you’re talking directly to your ideal client.
3. Email Marketing – Every email should sound like it’s coming from you and should be clear about how you can help solve their problem.
4. Your Website – Your website should feel like home for your brand. As soon as someone lands on it, they should know what you’re all about and why they should stick around.
Let’s talk about doing the inner work to know who you are as a businesswoman and what you bring to the table to even be able to write the best brand messaging.
One thing is for sure. Confidence in what you do is everything. You’ve got to know your worth, know your expertise, and be able to talk about it for hours and hours if you had to.
I’m not saying go out there and brag endlessly about yourself, but don’t shy away from talking about the results you’re able to bring. Your success is dependent on your mouthpiece. And how much you can convince someone that they should take you up on your offer.
Because why should they choose you? Why can’t they choose the next person?
You should know without a shadow of a doubt what’s so special about you and be able to speak on it and position yourself as a go-to person in your niche. Tell them about the transformations you help create. Tell them how you guide people from point A to point B.
Confidence comes from passion. What’s that passion point for you? Is it helping women gain financial freedom? Is it helping people show up authentically online? Whatever it is, hold onto it and let it fuel you every day.
So, if you’re serious about building a brand that people remember, you’ve got to master your messaging. This isn’t something thats low on the totem pole of branding and marketing. Nah, its very high up. It’s something you live, breathe, and use every time you show up online.
So make sure your brand message is powerful. Make sure that you dig deep and find your positive motivating force behind it. So that it will drive you to truly connect with the right people… so that your business connections are not just fluff, but truly soul to soul.
